How To Claim PPI Yourself

Beginning in May of 2011, debtors that were mis-sold PPI policies have been getting their money returned to them by filing claims against companies.

It is very simple to file a claim for a mis-sold PPI. You do not need a lawyer. All it takes is your time and a few stamps.

The first thing you will want to do is locate the names of your creditors whom you believe mis-sold you a PPI policy. If you do not have this information on hand it can easily be retrieved by ordering a copy of your credit report.

The next step in filing claim is to get original copies of your agreement with the lenders.

You can do this by writing each of the lenders personally and requesting them. You have a right to receive such under the Consumer Credit Act. Once you have the agreement in hand, look for information on payment protection plans you may have fraudulently paid.

The last thing you will do is to try writing the company who sold you the policy and simply ask for a refund. Most of these companies know what they have done and will be very willing to settle out of court.
