How To Make A PPI Claim Yourself

Filing a PPI Claim against your bank (insurer) is a fairly straightforward process for any consumer to do.

If you feel you have been mis-sold in a PPI Claim (for example, your insurer is telling you that to obtain a loan from them, you are also required to purchase PPI insurance with them), this is a mis-selling to you, the consumer of that loan. In such a case, you will have a valid complaint against your bank, and can begin the process of filing a claim.

You must first contact the bank and request a claim form for the mis-selling which you are accusing them of.

Once you obtain the forms, simply fill out the required information, state the mis-selling which you are complaining about, and send in the complaint. Banks have 6-8 weeks to respond, and in most cases will deny the initial complaint. If your claim is denied, don’t stop there. You must contact the Ombudsman office to file a petition against the bank for denying your claim without cause. The Ombudsman office reviews these petitions, and in most cases consumers will receive the refund in which they should get. If not, hiring a claims company might be an option to go for help.
