Banks Lose In Court The Financial Services Authority recently won its case against the British Banking Authority.
The legal issue was over missold PPI claims. If you were affected or thought you might have been affected by the ruling, you may have followed this case with interest. If you did not follow the PPI court case, you may still be able to stake a claim. Many people were sold expensive policies that they did not want or need. From the bank’s perspective the policies were pure profit when people were likely to be able to pay back the loans. They policies also made sure banks and credit card companies got their money back if something happened to a borrower.
The banks have declared that they will not pay out the funds to every one the banks say they must until the final word has been passed down.
If you have a PPI, you need to see if you fall under the ruling’s protection. If you make a claim against the banks they must resolve the claim. This can result in more money in your pocket and lower loan payments made to your bank each month. If the ruling patterns remain the same, the banks will be forced to apply the law retroactively.
